Filing a Mechanic’s Lien
The form can be found here or at the Circuit Clerk’s office. You must write or attach the legal description of the subject property to the form. The legal description can be obtained at the Jasper County Recorder of Deeds office. Sign your Mechanic’s Lien petition in front of a Notary Public before submitting it to the Circuit Clerk’s office. There is a $5 filing fee.
The subject property must be located in Jasper County to file. You may only file once in relation to the work that was performed. Mechanic’s Liens are unrelated to situations where work is performed on automobiles.
