Civic Education

Have Gavel, Will Travel! is a statewide initiative aimed at bolstering the public’s understanding of our judicial system. Missouri judges are actively reaching out to the community to provide presentations to school groups, and civic and professional organizations about relevant and interesting topics regarding the judiciary. A judge will come to your school, community group, senior center, library or college to provide an interactive, free presentation.

You can find out more about the presentations that are offered through this link: https://www.courts.mo.gov/CivicEducation/presentations/. Just click on the Request this Presentation link in the box that describes the program after you have decided which presentation you would like to see.

In addition, the Discover Missouri Courts website has more resources for you to check out at https://www.courts.mo.gov/CivicEducation/

The following is a Civic Education video created by the National Center for State Courts about the role of courts in our society:

You are welcome to reach out to the Court Administration Office to request a judge visit with your group about a topic that may not be included in the 12 presentations offered through the “Have Gavel, Will Travel” program. The judges would appreciate the opportunity to visit with you about current topics of interest related to the Judicial Branch of government.
