Judge John A. Nicholas

Judge Nicholas graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1993 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law, with distinction, in 1996. He has practiced law in Jasper County for his entire career.

Prior to taking the bench, he was in private practice at the firm of Blanchard, Robertson, Mitchell and Carter, P.C. and served Jasper County as an assistant prosecuting attorney. In 2007, he joined Joseph Hensley to form the Law office of Hensley & Nicholas, LLC while continuing to work part time as an assistant prosecutor. In his private practice he handled general civil litigation, corporate law, banking law, estate planning, family law and landlord tenant law. His private practice also included a special interest in school law. He handled cases in state courts throughout southwest Missouri, northeast Oklahoma, and argued cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, and the Missouri Supreme Court.

Judge Nicholas is licensed in Missouri and Oklahoma as well as the United States Western District of Missouri and Northern District of Oklahoma. He is also a member of the Jasper County Bar Association, serving as President in 2001. He and his wife, Greta, have two boys, Joseph and Benjamin.
