Where can I get the paperwork to file for an ex parte protection order?
You may obtain the paperwork in the Circuit Clerk’s Office or click here. The Joplin office location is 601 South Pearl Room 300 and the Carthage office is located at the Courthouse at 304 South Main Room 300. If you have any questions please call 417-625-4310 or 417-237-1079.

How much does it cost to file for an ex parte protection order?
There is no filing fee to file for an ex parte protection order.
What is the process for getting an ex parte protection order issued?
Once your paperwork is filled out and turned in to the Circuit Clerk’s office, a judge will review your request. If your request is approved, you must return and pick up a copy of your order. You will then have to appear at a hearing for a full protection order at a later date.
