What if I can’t pay my fines and costs in full?

Typically, fines and costs are due on the day you come to court. If you have not paid the fines and costs in full within 30 days of the date of judgment, a one-time $25.00 time payment fee is assessed. Failure to make payment in full for more than 3 months will result in a tax offset in which your Missouri State Tax Return may be seized. Failure to pay balance in full within 60 days of payment in full due date will result in outstanding balance being sent to Municipal Services Bureau a private debt collection agency, and a 14.9% increase to the total fine and costs owed will be added. If your case has been transferred to the debt collection agency you can contact them directly to make your payment by phone 800-616-0166 or online www.msbselfserve.com.

How do I get more time to pay on my fines and costs?

Any extension must be approved by the judge and may require a court appearance. The Judge or Clerk will NOT grant an extension by telephone and there is no grace period on payments. To request extensions, please contact the Circuit Clerk’s Office either by mailing a correspondence to the Judge on your case or sending an email to jaspercountycriminal@courts.mo.gov.

*Please note that if your costs are in collections, you will not be able to request an extension on fines and costs.
